Why would being closer to the cylinders be best?
Obviously, it needs to be after the intercooler so that there's no
chance of the water condensing out of the charge in the intercooler.
Once out of the intercooler, I'd imagine it wouldn't matter.
I like it right after the intercooler so that the water has more time
to evaporate. Maybe not an issue, but that's my thinking.
