I've been reading everything I can get my hands on concerning E85, and particularly the conversion of non-flex fuel engines to E85. I stumbled across this academic study of a Prius where Ethanol was gradually introduced into the fuel system in ever increasing percentages. This was done on a dyno with considerable data logging. It was determined that, at least in the case of the Prius, E85 could be run with NO changes to anything - no larger injectors, no re-mapping of the ECU, no increased fuel pressure, nadda, zip, nothing. And, the most interesting part was that with full 85% Ethanol the car made 20% more HP and 33% more torque just by simply filling up at the yellow pump. _www.greenenergynetwork.com/media/studies/prius-e85.PDF_ (http://www.greenenergynetwork.com/media/studies/prius-e85.PDF) Now, my questions is this, is there anyone on this list with a dyno and a wideband who would be interested in attempting some E85 testing with a stock Miata? Jim in Tucson That's interesting. I'd never read that Ethanol increased HP, only that it decreased MPG. **************Vote for your city's best dining and nightlife. City's Best 2008.
