Unless I missed it they claim higher HP and lower MPG but don't offer just how much lower MPG and the charts seem to be MIA that show that info.
So just like all the other claims, the E85 is great except your MPG goes down! So you pay a little less in most cases but use more of it. I stumbled across this academic study of a Prius where Ethanol was gradually introduced into the fuel system in ever increasing percentages. This was done on a dyno with considerable data logging. It was determined that, at least in the case of the Prius, E85 could be run with NO changes to anything - no larger injectors, no re-mapping of the ECU, no increased fuel pressure, nadda, zip, nothing. And, the most interesting part was that with full 85% Ethanol the car made 20% more HP and 33% more torque just by simply filling up at the yellow pump. www.greenenergynetwork.com/media/studies/prius-e85.PDF Now, my questions is this, is there anyone on this list with a dyno and a wideband who would be interested in attempting some E85 testing with a stock Miata?
