Practicing wellness is hard work. Most people would much prefer to ignore
good lifestyle choices and then push the responsibility for their well being
 off onto someone else.

True, but look how things have changed. Schools are underfunded so
physical fitness (PhysEd) is seldom in the curriculum. A sad part of higher
technoloafy are the video and computer games that hold people in their seats
for hours. People are WATCHING sports on big screen TVs instead of
participating in sports. Everyone drives everywhere, even down the street to
an
event or location easily within walking distance.
The media presents happy people getting stoned or drunk in movies and on
TV...

Personally, I've been taking vitamins, protein shakes, pumping Iron for
several decades; don't drink alcohol (bad for the body - much worse than many
believe), don't use tobacco, don't do things known to lead to disease...
I'd rather spend my money to staying well, too! It certainly beats
becoming sick and having to deal with health care as a response to infirmary.
BUT... prevention cost money, as well, and many people who are NOT ignorant
of prevention, haven't the money to pay for it.
