Dumb question, but don't all Torsens have the rubber damper where the driveshaft and the input to the diff meet?

If the car came with cloth seats it probably didn't have a torsen. If it did come with leather seats it probably came with torsen ... and the most underbody bracing of any year Miata. The seats may have been replaced so look for the bracing (half a dozen round steel bars with flatened ends) under the rear of the body.
