1961 – The Beatles play three separate gigs at three different venues.
The first is a lunch-time show at the Cavern Club: the group’s second
ever appearance at the club. In the early evening, The Beatles make
their fourth appearance at the Cassanova Club, then race across town
for a show at the Litherland Town Hall: their seventh appearance
there.
1963 – Frank Sinatra records "Soliloquy" at the Goldwyn Studios in
Hollywood.
1964 – The Rolling Stones release their single, “Not Fade Away” b/w
“Little By Little” on Decca in the UK.

2001 – Johnny Cash is released from a Nashville hospital after

2001 – Singer Robbie Williams is thrown from the stage during a
concert at Schleyerhalle stadium in Stuttgart, Germany after a man
gets on the stage and pushes Williams into the security pit. The
attacker is arrested and taken into custody.
2002 – Elton John accuses the music industry of exploiting young
singers and dumping talented artists for manufactured groups, saying,
“There are too many average and mediocre acts; it damages real talent
getting airplay. It's just fodder.”
2007 – Movie studio Dreamworks takes out a full-page ad in Variety and
The Hollywood Reporter apologizing to Motown for similarities between
their story Dream Girls, adapted from the stage musical, and the book
of the same name by former Supreme Mary Wilson, which was a scathing
look at the label and head Berry Gordy's reported behind-the-scenes
manipulation of artists. Gordy will accept the apology on behalf of
the label, even though he no longer owns it.
2008 – In what is reported as one of eBay's most expensive sales yet,
an unnamed U.S. music collector sells his collection of 3.3 million
albums, singles and CDs to an unnamed Irish collector for $3 million.
2008 – Britney Spears fails in her court bid to regain visitation
rights with her two children, after being banned from monitored visits
in January when she refused to hand the children back, resulting in a
stand-off with police at her house.
2008 – Crystal Gayle is inducted into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame.
2008 – Computer expert Devon Townsend is jailed for two years for
electronically stalking Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington while
working at a U.S. national security laboratory in New Mexico, where
she used a computer to track the singer. During her trial, she
admitted to obtaining family photos, accessing e-mail and voicemail,
and threatening Bennington’s wife Talinda.
2009 – Singer Rihanna issues a statement thanking her fans for their
support after being beaten up by boyfriend Chris Brown.
2010 – An arson fire destroys most of Gamble and Huff’s historic
Philadelphia International Records inside the Center City building,
burning up much of the company’s gold and platinum albums and
memorabilia. Only the studio is left untouched by fire.
2012 – The U.S. Supreme Court rejects Phil Spector's appeal on his
conviction for killing actress Lana Clarkson.
