1957 – Alan Freed's Rock ‘N’ Roll Easter Jubilee begins a ten-day run
at the Paramount Theater in Brooklyn, New York, featuring Bo Diddley,
Buddy Knox, The Harptones, LaVern Baker, The Del Vikings, The
Penguins, Jimmy Bowen, The Three Chuckles, Bobby Marchan, The
Cleftones, Charlie Gracie, and The Rhythm Jesters.

1961 – Ray Charles is the big winner at the 3rd Grammy Awards, taking
Best Vocal Performance on Album by a Male for his record The Genius Of
Ray Charles. His single “Georgia On My Mind” wins for Best Vocal
Performance on Single by a Male, and Best Performance by a Pop Single
Artist, and his version of “Let The Good Times Roll” wins him the Best
Rhythm and Blues Performance award.
1963 – Bob Dylan performs and records his legendary concert at the
Town Hall in New York City. The album is never released.
1963 – The Beatles headline an eight-hour Rhythm and Blues Marathon at
the Cavern Club, beginning at 4pm and ending at midnight. Others act
include The Fourmost, The Dennisons, The Nomads, The Panthers, The
Flintstones, The Roadrunners, Group One, and Faron's Flamingoes. This
is the next to the last time The Beatles will play at the Cavern.
1964 – Chubby Checker marries Miss World, Catherina Lodders. They’re
still married.
1966 – Tom Jones enters the hospital to have his tonsils removed,
though some believe it’s for a nose job.
1966 – Jan Berry is seriously injured when the car he is driving hits
a parked truck, leaving him with permanent brain damage, some

1967 – Mick Jagger is punched in the face by an airport official in
France when the singer loses his temper after missing his flight

2007 – The Beatles’ Apple Corps settles a £30 million royalties
dispute with the band's label, EMI, claiming unpaid royalties on
Beatles albums based on a sales audit between 1994 and 1999, a period
which included the release of three Anthology compilations. Details of
the settlement are not disclosed.
2008 – With her new single, "4 Minutes," Madonna surpasses Elvis

2008 – Lou Reed marries his second wife, performance artist Laurie
Anderson.
2010 – The Vatican's official newspaper, L'Osservatore Ramano,
publishes a story endorsing and praising The Beatles on the 40th

Lennon for his 1966 comment that the group was "bigger than Jesus."
