1963 – The 5th annual Grammy Awards take place at the Beverly Hilton
in Los Angeles. Album of the Year goes to comedian Vaughn Meader’s The
First Family, with Tony Bennett winning Record of the Year for “I Left
My Heart In San Francisco,” and Song of the Year going to Sammy Davis,
Jr. and Anthony Newley for “What Kind Of Fool Am I.”
1964 – The Smothers Brothers make their debut appearance at Carnegie

1981 – Filling in for Bow Wow Wow at the last minute, and with no time
to rehearse, Public Image Ltd. performs a “video” show at the Ritz in
New York City, posing behind a screen while live music is played from
tapes. When the audience chants to have the screen raised, PiL
frontman John Lydon taunts them. The ruse lasts until the second song
begins, when a riot ensues and the screen is showered with beer
bottles and other objects, and they are booed off stage.

1985 – Prince and The Revolution release their single, "Raspberry

estate have failed to pay him millions in royalties.
2008 – Neil Diamond reaches #1 on the album charts for the first time
in his career with Home Before Dark.
2008 – A spokesman for record label Mercury Nashville announces that
Shania Twain and producer husband John “Mutt” Lang are separating
after 14 years of marriage.
2009 – Guess Who and Bachman-Turner guitarist Randy Bachman receives
