Detroit.
1958 – Peggy Lee records the first of three different versions of
"Alright, Okay, You Win."
1959 – Lloyd Price, along with the Ray Charles Singers, records the
songs for his next single, "I'm Gonna Get Married" and "Three Little
Pigs," which will prove to be Price's last #1 record.
1959 – Johnny Mathis releases his single, "Small World" b/w "You Are
Everything To Me."
1959 – To accommodate the growing interest in stereo recordings,
Billboard magazine splits its album chart into mono and stereo

2000 – UK Supermarket chain ASDA cancels a signing tour planned to
promote Boyzone's Mikey Graham's debut solo single “Like An Angel”
after admitting that he used cannabis and had gone on alcohol benders
with his fellow Boyz.
2002 – One man suffers a heart attack and 30 others are injured in a
mosh pit melee at an Eminem show in Washington, D.C.
2004 – Madonna cancels three concerts in Israel when Palestinian
terrorist threaten to kill her and her children.
2005 – The Alameda County Sheriff's Office in California announces
that it is officially closing the stabbing case of Meredith Hunter,
the 18-year old who was killed at the 1969 Rolling Stones Altamont
free concert.
2007 – Former frontman for The Mindbenders, Wayne Fontana arrives at
Derby Crown court dressed as Lady Justice, carrying scales and a
sword, and is taken into custody after pleading guilty to lighting a
bailiff’s car on fire with him in it in 2005.
2009 – Producer and former member of Wilco, Jay Bennett dies in his
home just weeks after filing a $50,000 lawsuit against the band for
breach of contract and unpaid royalties.
