June 13 addition -- 1964 - On their first U.S. tour, The Rolling Stones appear at Big Reggie's Danceland at the Excelsior Amusement Park in Minnesota, in front of a sparse, uninterested crowd.
The Excelsior Amusement Park was about 10 miles from my house. I was already an eight-year old Beatlemaniac, but hadn't heard of the Stones yet, so we didn't go. The Beach Boys also played at Big Reggie's on May 3, 1963 to a huge turn out. Cops had to be called in to control the crowds for that one.
