1946 – CBS radio begins airing Talent Scouts, with host Arthur Godfrey.
1955 – Local Los Angeles television show, The Dodge Dancing Party, makes
its national television debut on ABC-TV. In 1959, the show will merge with
Lawrence Welk's Plymouth Show to become The Lawrence Welk Show.
1956 – Elvis Presley records "Hound Dog," "Don't Be Cruel" and “Any Way You
Want Me (That’s How I Will Be)” at RCA Studios in New York City, using The
Jordanaires for the first time.
1956 – Andy Williams records "Canadian Sunset."
1958 – Elvis Presley's fourth movie, King Creole, premieres in theaters.
1960 – Connie Francis begins recording the vocals for her album, Connie
Francis Sings Spanish And Latin American Favorites, in Hollywood. The
orchestral backing tracks were all recorded at EMI Studios in London.
1961 – Elvis Presley records “Follow That Dream,” “Angel,” “What A
Wonderful Life” and “I’m Not The Marrying Kind” at RCA Studios in Nashville
for the soundtrack of his film, Follow That Dream.
1962 – James Hendrix is honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after
breaking his ankle in a paratrooper jump.
1962 – Barbara Lynn makes her debut appearance on American Bandstand,
lip-synching to "You'll Lose A Good Thing."
1964 – Country music artist Jim Reeves holds his final recording session,
recording "Make The World Go Away," "Missing You," "In The Misty
Moonlight," "Is It Really Over" and "Can't Stop Loving You” at RCA Studios
in Nashville. He will be killed in a plane crash in 29 days.
