I did all this. Apache starts up fine. Now, as soon as I access a
midgard page I get:

Parse error: parse error, expecting `STRING' or `'{'' or `'$'' in
/usr/local/httpd/midgard/midgard-root.php3 on line 11

I believe, I misconfigured php before compiling...
