I gotta go with Josh on this, as far as bang for buck goes at the moment, there's nothing in the RB world even close to what an x86 device can put out for roughly twice the cost of an RB1100 Plus you can get a box with IPMI in case you ever break anything badly .. or a Mikrotik update does :-P
We have an Intel 2ghz Quad Core 1RU box pushing up to 100Mbps of traffic (with a large QoS tree) that hits a maximum of 28% CPU at the moment, servicing around 500~ hotspot users daily.
