Military life is the perfect example of how socialism works well. All the "basic needs" are supplied and the potential for success in life is an open door, as they say, be all you can be. Products above the basics are purchased from the outside via the capitalist system. Socialism and Capitalism function together. Wartime is potentially hazardous but peacetime can prove to be bliss for most.
