What I mean is I don't know why the people pushing the ID stuff felt they had to invent it in the first place. I wouldn't object to a short paragraph in a science text disclaiming any attempt to refute the existence of a supreme being. It could basically say what I said above and then go on with the science. Would you have a problem with that? Stick it in the forward that nobody reads anyway. When I went to public school there were mentions of God in just about every text. I turned out alright.
