I agree with Vam - though I'd say Islam is a religion pretending peace, something attractive until one realises one is amongst 'chosen people'. Muslims can be as generous as any other group and they are not alone in trying to force their manners down other's throats. France has many more Muslims than other EU countries and they are a small minority in the UK - yet this small minority is causing much trouble and fear. Multi-culturalism gets close to apartheid. We should also note that we dump these problems into areas already short of resources and should hardly be surprised when the reactions look racist - what would we be doing if the only houses available to us and our children were taken out of our resource pot or if our sleep was being disturbed by banging car doors at Mosque call? I suspect, on a religious basis, that if we had medieval Xtian preaching we'd be as disturbed by that as we are by some Islam - so it may be a mistake to think this is a religious problem. I''m now in favour of the EU preventing any further immigration and seeking to build a new welfare state based on work contributions (with exceptions) and the availability of work. We should set a target for assimilation (10 years) - by all of us - to new democratic standards in politics, work and society.
