Hello Kenny 4,000 words is not very much about 12 printed pages +/- dependent on font size. and a book is some where around 50,000 plus words. As to writing a book in a week.. doubt it,, But you can easily write a 4000 word short story in less than a week if you work at it.
well personally I think all stories need some planning. It is easiest to write about life experiences i think but that is up to the individual. then again I know nothing.. nothing!!
