Science is continually correcting itself and discarding myths and incorrect notions so it is more like religious faith/belief than it wants to admit. Add to that, the damage wrought by the scientific advances of lethal wars, degradation of the enviornment, social ills and I doubt the god of science/reason fares any better than the old gods.
