I wish I had time to answer what you've said, Chris. I don't agree that Cuba is, or ever has been, "communist". Not ideologically. Not practically.
You're also ignoring the fact that Castro still enjoys majority support and the idea of a socialist sate is still the dominant ideology of its people. Exiles, or escapees, and American media, have clearly coloured your opinion... but that's very far from the whole picture of Cuba's history. If I manage to finish about a million jobs maybe I'll revisit this properly!
