A lively blog is discussing "When Pain Goes Beyond Words" by Tara
Parker-Pope in the NYTimes- Health Section- September 22, 2009 is
harsh on health providers for inadequate pain relief. The reader
comments are shocking, touching and informative. Something to file
away.//Yes- pain is subjective in many instances as is the
individual's ability to recover and heal. I would guess there is a
mind/body effect in play in some, but not all, cases.// Also, "Nova"
on PBS last night had an interesting program, "The Ghost in Your
Genes" which links your DNA with your grandparents rather than your
parents. It focused on mutations prone to disease but can envision
future studies that follow/link personality traits, as well.
