The next Olympics are in London - I don't suppose we could sell them
to Chicago and cut our losses? I am something of a barbarian on
sport, preferring games in which magnificent specimens like the
sprinters need great courage to actually run - given that the rest of
us are out to smack them down and test out their over-honed muscles.
I also think no one should play without having done a shift down the
pit or survived trying to teach Butchers 4 how to enjoy literature or
do spreadsheets. Financial reward should equate to enough beer to
swill away the bruises for another week. I look forward to a time in
which all continents vie to get the Olympics run somewhere else.

If my book sells well Orn, perhaps you would be my guest at the prone
small-bore rifle event at Bisley (or wherever these days). I can
promise an action-lacked three days in certain rain and all the
thrills of waiting for unexpected proton-decay in a beta-blocker to
cause that final miss by a Tibetan vermin-hunter that allows the
Andorran patent clerk to get the gold his ten years of obsessional
training deserves until the medal is stripped over blood tests
indicating innocent use of a nasal spray not conforming to Olympic
standards, shortly after the entire Chinese synchronised tiddly-wink
team is disqualified when it is discovered the turtle's whose blood
they had been consuming in vast quantities had been reared on anabolic
steroids and human growth hormone. After all this excitement, we will
turn to the closing ceremony, consisting entirely of a Metropolitan
Police Marching Band suppressing peaceniks goaded by tear-gas and
rubber bullets whilst protesting the now very large war in
Afghanistan. Whilst the authorities are suitably distracted, we will
rescue the turtle and engage Tony Blair's (now Pope Blair) barrister
wife to get it political asylum. The turtle, needless to say smarter
than us, will simply enter the 15 kilometre river swim as a Canadian
contestant, win the event and keep on going out to sea. I mean, who
wouldn't pay to see all this 'fun' and commit themselves to a diabetic
future drinking Coke and Pepsi in equal measure in gratitude? Slip
will be President of the International Olympic Committee by then and
already living in the Bahamas having sold the 2028 Olympics to Russian
Oligarchs planning to hold the events in Chicago. Obama will claim
the public credit, but not get, as Slip will tell us with a smile, the
'mineral rights'!
