Molly, I'm not seeing fighting for one's "way of life", or actual life, as being related to patriotism. Maybe that's my fault, but I'm totally not getting it.
The British way of life is not so different from the German, French, and Italian way of life. They're all equally as important, however if some attack was directed at Britain it would have the added weight of being more local and thus more inconvenient to me. In fighting to protect this way of life, what I feel is not patriotism; or I don't believe it is. Surely it's more to do with something more fundamental and human.
