There is a distinction between religion and God, I feel, for I do pray
everyday to Something beyond my small existence and I have no problem
with people needing certain ceremonies and rules until they cross a
certain border that I have decided is crazy or corrupt. The Age of
Enlightenment (Reason) and advancement of science has explained many
mysteries of the past but it has neglected the Soul and emotions so it
can get a bit chilly to depend on reason or science to explain and
coach one through the mysteries and challenges of life. Another
thought I have been thinking about is that often traditional sins and
errors do indeed lead one to virtue as one experiences the pain and a
kind of spiritual death as a result of choices. Sometimes one can
justify behavior on dozens of different influences that set a wrong
course but eventually the bill comes due. And there is a Justice
operating in lives- I have seen it over and over- often referred to as
logical consequences- in fact, it's spooky!
