Christians believe God did appear in the human/divine form of Christ and even the Greeks via Homer had the gods and goddesses out and about like busybodies; other rituals ascribe the appearances and blessings of gods and saints,etc.// There are too many instances of holy men, hermits, monks and nuns who chose a private existence versus the world's applause. The reverse is certainly evident in today's politicians and celebrities who can't expose themselves enough and live for publicity. Milton has a sonnet-XIX- "When I consider how my life is spent"...
