It's all scary.  I don't think anyone is arguing that it isn't.  But
our species seems to have a love affair with fear.  We even invent it
when none rationally exists.

But the fear factor aside, I think there is life throughout the
universe.  Abundant life.  However, when it comes to intelligent life,
based on my deep-seated belief that irony is a major force in the
universe coupled with our incessant search for higher life forms (as
if we were afraid of being on the throne ourselves) dictates that we
are the highest form of intelligent life in existence.  We are the
supreme being of which we so often endow our favorite creation.
