I am what my identity is. If my personality and circumstances had been different , it would have been a different identity and that would have been someone else and not I.
And, I am something that I have always been. Carried with me from a time I can only hope to discover, in all the challenges and transitory changes there has been a continuity that I know as 'me'. Olfactory memory has played an important part in discovery but not as they say it commonly does, mine are distinct and unlike anything I've ever smelled, they unlock vague periods of time then the metallic taste zeroes in on a time until I am again experiencing the world as it was then, for me. It happens similarly at times when I am remembering a dream of the present time, except it is all visual/emotional.
