I don't know of any group in which people are open to changing their mind. 
At least not collectively.  By calling out an impugning arrogance is that 
not telling people what you think of them?  If I were to also state "People 
in this group seldom change their mind " would I not be setting up a self 
defeat and therefore it would vindicate my feelings towards them?

I think ideas and ideologies are important even if only you as an 
individual have them regardless of how they are perceived or expressed or 
embraced.
All of us are snowflakes, no two alike.  Even those who are blatantly wrong 
form the banks and valleys to which our river can course through.
