Ultimately, whether a group "goes backwards" or forwards, succeeds or
fails, depends on the membership. The quality of the dialogue has improved
here lately with the return of a few members that were at one time
interested in the quality of the conversation. Even when that quality was
high, squabbles occurred and trolls came and went. It will be interesting
to see what happens to the group, whether it slides back to viscous
discourse or continues to improve. No behind the scenes covert
manipulations will decide the fate. This group will fail or not because of
what the members tolerate, respect, introduce, offer and create. No more no
less. You can stack the administrators, change the engaged members. The
tone and longevity of the dialogue is simply formulated by the daily words
posted. No single person's manipulations (or select few that allow) will
make or break it. Even if ME fails here, the members relate on more than
one platform, and if the desire is to continue the conversation, whatever
the tone, it will continue. Human resilience should never be underestimated.
