As for your first sentence, Molly, no way would you allow a child to get through with this "I apologize" chunk totally unconnected to anything that could be grasped by anyone. I identify this as adult word politics for future use in a more serving context. In this context here it suggests there could be a misunderstanding on both sides and you generously offer an apology. I have learned to not buy this story telling here anymore. You (and Neil) are fully aware of making Allan your "Toy Boy" instead of empowering him to do some serious investigation into matters that are of his concern. In my world this is called foul play. There are children's card games in which it is the goal to not be in possession of the "foul" card when the game ends, so you learn to always quickly pass it to the other at a very early age.
