Hear hear.

I would expect that replicating this interface in Mixxx even when using PC 
keyboard or MIDI keyboard as a controller would greatly enhance pickupability 
for people who have a passing familiarity with industry standard gear (Pioneer).

I'm all for innovation and improved UIs, but I agree, it needs to be 
configurable, and using a standard hardware UI as a default is a great idea.

CDJs have it right in my view. 

When stopped, pressing CUE sets the cue point.
When playing, pressing CUE jumps to the cue point and stops there.
*Holding down* CUE plays from the cue point for as long as it's held,
then when released it jumps straight back to cue point and stops there.

This behaviour might not be ideal when using the GUI, but it definitely
feels like the right way for a controller.
