Ok, so combining this with what Daniel said, it looks like: A) The bug does not occur with the Hardy kernel B) Switching Mixxx versions doesn't make a difference ... which is probably telling us that the bug isn't in Mixxx directly, but that's moot since this bug will affect Mixxx (ALSA) users on Ubuntu 8.10/9.04/9.10. Is there anyone who _hasn't_ seen Mixxx the audio stop (ever) on Ubuntu 8.10+? Jim: One thing you can try is installing the version of PortAudio-v19 from Hardy on any of your machines: http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/libportaudio2 (Direct .deb download links for i386 and amd64 are under "Download libportaudio2") It's possible that something changed in PortAudio between 8.04 and 8.10, although off the top of my head, I don't think the ALSA backend had much work done on it.
