I don't think it's really the cowl height; ours are pretty
high, as well. However, A2's have a tall greenhouse and high
roofline, and relatively upright seating, so we can see over the cowl
easily, whereas the American cars you mentioned tend to have a lower
roofline and lower seats. 'Sportier' styling = worse visibility. On
the other hand, my Japanese cars (especially Honduh) have a really
low cowl, as well as lower seating and roof line. You get better
visibility, but I feel really 'exposed' behind the wheel, or in the
front passenger's seat.
