ok, i know this isn't the most popular subject around here, but i simply don't share (almost) everyone's opinion that Motronic is the be-all and end-all of engine management for the 16v.
i'm looking at acquiring the Badger5 setup sometime down the road, and i like the tunability it offers- but since this is admittedly new territory for me, i'd like some cheap insurance- Sport Compact Car used the J&S Safeguard knock sensor on the 2nd generation of their project impreza and seemed to have pretty good results with it, as they blew the 4wd gearbox but the engine is still going strong. info on the Badger5 setup is at: http://www.badger5.demon.co.uk info on the j&s unit is at: http://www.safeguard.20m.com/safeguard.html the combination of these two units looks like it would be a pretty tunable (and yet still safe in the case of, well, mis-tuning) setup. the only problem i can foresee off the bat is that the safeguard requires a MAP sensor connection, which makes it fine and dandy for Hondas, but a VW with the Badger5 setup lacks... well... an intake manifold. i'm assuming it could still be teed off a vacuum line somewhere as an alternate solution, correct? thoughts? --- white.rabbit _when i am king you will be first against the wall_ 1997 vw gti vr6 1987 vw gti 2.0-16vM --- _____________ List Sponsor: http://www.netsville.com To remove yourself from this list, send mail to [email protected] with 'unsubscribe a2_16v' in the body of your message See us on the web at http://www.a2-16v.com Visit the 16V Homepage at http://www.gti16v.org
