Well, it depends on what you're doing. Motronic is the better of the
stock-ish management systems. Could you even call cis-e engine
management? :)

CIS disadvantages:
extremely limited fuel mapping (CIS-E)
extremely limited ignition mapping (CIS-E)
extremely restrictive metering plate (all)
restrictive intake system (all)

Motronic advantages:
Chippable
ability to read fault codes for bad sensors, etc
lower emissions and better performance ("learning" of the motronic brain)

CIS-E advantages:
easy to tune
fewer parts to break
still decent emissions with the o2 sensor.

I'm not sure I'm gonna buy a subaru any time soon. SCC blew their
gearbox, and every rally I watch there's at least one subaru that loses a
couple gears and needs a tranny changed. Stuff like that just goes
to show how durable (or not durable) some of those stock components
are. I have a feeling subaru will fix that sooner or later.

I would assume so, as long as there's still provision for a reliable
vacuum source with the throttle bodies. I'm sure there is, because even
with the standalone management you still need vacuum for stuff like brake
boosters, etc. Not that that helps much. :)
