I don't understand why the 16v would have a higher insurance premium than
the other cars on this thread.  They all seem to be in the same category as
far as an insurance company would be concerned.  Besides, anything with "GT"
"X" or "R" in the model name is a insurance markup I would think.  The other
cars mentioned are good choices but why not just get another GTi?  I don't
think insurance will be much different.  There is already talk about
swapping motors, how about a bare bones Rabbit, Golf or Jetta and drop a 16v
in it.
