I second this....
I have a friend with a well done up GLi that can take 5.0s. That's a 16V
GLi....but really, is there any other kind :-).

i used to take out 5.0s with my VR6's all the time. i have no problem
believing a well-done 16v could do the same.
however, the issue is less one of power vs. torque than a combination of
weight/gearing advantages, IMO...
