Well my great working AC apparently developed a
leak in the evaporator a few days ago and almost all
of the precious R12 came out of the dash vents!  There
is still a little left in there as the low pressure
switch hasn't blocked the AC clutch from engaging. 
So, now I need to replace my evaporator which looks
like a major PIA and then I need to either source some
R12 or convert the system to R134 coolant.  Has anyone
been down this road before?  Any advice would be
appreciated!  Does anyone have an evaporator for an 87
gti they want to move out?
   On a brighter note I had a grerat time at the Maine
Forest Rally this past weekend, headed up 2 main time
controls, worked a mid stage spectator/control point
(at a jump) and got some good pictures.  I can't wait
until next year.  They also held a Rally Cross the
next day which looked interesting; I'm thinking of
picking up some extra wheels and snow tires to try
that out.
