- The thing is: I never drag race. I hadn't raced at a track in like 2 years up til last week. Unlike everyone seems to think right now, failing stock pressure plates are pretty common. I've been on this list long enough to know that. This has happened to my friend's near stock GLI, and to my brother's old '87 (with less mods than mine). I really think it's the rpms that the clutches can't handle. I never had this problem with my 8V cars which never revved past 6800rpms. Josh, out of curiosity, what did you rev your G60 setup to?
