Who said it is PROPRIETARY? I'm fairly certain it will not be. Even if it
is, you still have the option of installing a different DE/WM.
Kubuntu/Xubuntu's very existence is based on offering choice to Ubuntu
users. Im sure there will now be a Gubuntu...

Also, the links provided offer no real information. In fact, they are poorly
written, poorly edited garbage.
