I'm planning on trying it this week. I'll let you know how it goes. If you're going with Fedora or Ubuntu though, I wouldn't be worried. They use a signed boot system (or at least a partially signed one) which makes things work with Secure Boot. If you're going to install other distros, then I guess you'll want to do a bit more research first to make sure. Of course, I didn't verify what I'm writing here, but very confident it's accurate. Note, from what I understand you wouldn't be able to disable secure boot and retain the capability to boot into Windows 8. I suspect the UEFI BIOS on any system to allow clearing the keys and using any key you might want, but be aware that such changes will basically make the system unable to run the preinstalled Windows 8, although I've come to understand that there may be a way to install Windows 8 without secure boot. Again, not tested yet -- the systems I already have that are UEFI don't do secure boot, and I have no intention to install or use Windows 8. -- Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre <[email protected]> Freenode: cyphermox, Jabber: [email protected] 4096R/EE018C93 1967 8F7D 03A1 8F38 732E FF82 C126 33E1 EE01 8C93 _______________________________________________ mlug mailing list [email protected] https://listes.koumbit.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mlug-listserv.mlug.ca
