Boot signing for Fedora 18 will not be ready until Microsoft delivers and
proves the secure boot module. There will be a shim module that will accept
signing of Fedora modules.
Ubuntu has a temporary secure boot solution. The solution with the secure boot
module is common to RH, Fedora, Suse, Ubuntu, and will probably be common to
the others.

Secure boot allows for multiple operating systems. So, once your secure boot is
signed, it can be installed as coexisting with Windows 8.  MS never tested
coexistance, as far as I know.

I buy my hardware from Microscott, here in Montreal on Sherbrooke Ave. W.
So far, he's been quite competent.

He's not a Linux man himself, but he does understand the issues.  I
imagine if everyone wanting a Linux machine were to came to him, he'd
become a repostiry of Linux lore.  (Not that that's likely to happen.)

The best thing about him is that if he doesn't know the answer to a
question, he'll tell you that instead of making up something.
