Using Now
I moved away from Debian to a Fedora Remix.
I have several Fedora 23 Remixes, Let me explainFedora has a policy of being
FOSS (except for certain exceptions), to follow the rules of Red-Hat, the main
sponsor.
Pure Fedora does not include some codecs or libdvdcss or steam, or other
software that make up a rich workspace package
The Remix packages are just the basic Fedora23 (with updates) and the extras
that Fedora can't promote. (Wonderful USA laws and lawyers who sue).
But the Remixes are not USA based, and can be installed anywhere.
I use Chapeau Linux http://chapeaulinux.org/ with Gnome. Visit the site to
get an idea of the add-ons. This version is rock solid, and very enjoyable.I
use Kororaproject ( Korora Project ) with XFCE and a second copy with
GNOME. The XFCE is remarkably nice, and the Gnome version has software that
Chapeau Linux does not include and vice versa).
If you want a rock solid distribution, use one of the above two.
I also have SUSE Tumbleweed, a KDE version. I am having problems with videos
and youtube stuff with Tumbleweed. I need the video to follow some on-line
courses I am taking.
Ergo, I would just highly recommend you try Korora or Chapeau.

droidHello everyone,
I'm thinking of moving away from Kubuntu. Ever since I upgraded to the 15.xx
branch, I've only had problems and frustrations. Today, after an update, I lost
the sound system. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the based
distribution, or if it's because of KDE and Plasma 5, but I'm kind of tired of
spending so much time trying to fix this instead of using the system. Kubuntu
15 has been a huge disappointment to me.
I want to stick with a Debian based distribution. I'm considering Debian or
Mint. Mostly, I need to be able to install the latest Nvidia drivers for Steam
Linux support. That's about my only requirements. Well, that and a stable
system. I might moved over to Cinnamon instead of KDE as well.
Has anyone moved away to a different distribution after years of using Kubuntu,
and what are you using now?
