Not for anything but the days of dial up and modems are done too be honest getting on the internet 10 years ago with linux was not obvious i blame win-modems.
So fast fwd 10 years in theory all bell videotron etc… do is offer a router/modem in your home. The fact that they would refuse you any os that supports dhcp is ridiculous. My best advice is pick a reputable and reasonable $ provider and enjoy. As many have mentioned if there are known issues it will rarely be on your OS side now days.
