Hi Peter,

I assumed that uninstalling would remove all the backups and defaults
and such, but multiple attempts to get a clean start by uninstalling
and reinstalling kept coming up with my old DB and not letting me open
a different one. I checked and apparently parts of my home directory
were read only so I made them writable and tried again but it still
did the same thing.

I searched the entire drive for any .mem files but there weren't any
that windows search can find. Attempting to open a different .mem file
just threw the Can't save file error twice in a row.

I've made it work now by manually removing the .mnemosyne directory
and setting the permissions on the home folder to writable and
uninstalling and reinstalling the software. I guess it was a problem
with the permissions. It was pretty frustrating trying to get it to
work (and now I'm a week behind my review). Thanks for the help
resolving this issue.

One thing that would make this easier to deal with is the option to
exit without saving the file, because it's really irritating to have
to shut down from the task manager when it comes up with the Can't
save file error.

So this doesn't sound totally negative, I've found this software
really useful and have been using regularly for over a year and it has
definitely helped me a lot.

Regards,
Seth
