Thank you very much, now it works propertly.
Another question I have: I downloaded the propram from the website, but
without asking it is finally installed in german. Has this something to
do with Windows, that is set as german?
How can I change that easily, because I want Mnemosyne in english.
I appreciate your assistance!

Yes, by default (HP ProBook).
Can you try changing it so that writing is allowed?
What is probably failing here is the backup mechanism which tries to create a
new file in the backup directory. Writing to an existing file (i.e. the database
file) is apparently allowed.
