That's the thing, the cutting edge is a moving target and those of us
who started using MK 1+ years ago have seen our requirements get
steeper but MK not keep pace.  So a lot of us are in the position of
"it's working, we have code invested in it, but we're NOT really happy
with it anymore."

Before you start frothing at the mouth, I'm not claiming Bob or you or
anyone else owes me anything.  Although a little communication is kind
of an implicit obligation when you take something like this public,
it's not hard to tell what it means in this case.
