Yeah, but what happens once you get bored of it? Higher and Higher is a
decent enough tune, but if it was played week in week out everywhere you
went I can almost guarantee you'd end up preferring to hear something
less common even if it was 'worse' just for the variety. Plus I don't
see where this is leading - Matt and Ed have both expressed same opinion
as you - it doesn't matter how much a single costs and that some DJs
favour rare records over good ones - and let's just add right here that
the Northern scene is hardly alone in those attitudes. So I don't see
what (or who) you're getting at.

Go to the other extreme and you get to crowd-pleasing wedding disco DJs,
or in the middle ground a club like Move On Up - which does play well
known Motown tunes and attracts an audience to match - students,
secretaries and hen nights (and a smattering of mods and soulies, but
mostly they have got bored and moved on) - but doesn't have the
progressive policy of a club like the Hideaway.

No Paul, it's just that we remember when you joined, and might be a bit
suspicious of pronouncements on the Northern Soul scene that aren't
backed up by club and track names, rather than stereotypes.
