Broadcast gig last week was wonderful - really good use of film projections
Have you checked the soundtrack to Midnight Cowboy too - the Elephants
Memory track is almost identical to a Broadcast song.
well, it really wouldn't surprise me that something on the Midnight Cowboy
soundtrack has been ...er.. 'borrowed' by Broadcast! when we got the album,
we played 'spot the sample'. still, they're not too obvious samples, i'll
give them that (ie: one of the tracks samples one note from a John Coltrane
bass line). i saw them live a year or 2 ago, and they were really good - it
sounds like they're using the same projections, though! but they really fit
in with their music. i love Broadcast - everytime i hear them, i want to
make my own B-movie and get them to do the soundtrack!
for similar sounds, look for: Rotary Connection, ALison Stratton, Doris, and
the Cinematic Orchestra. Or, hey - The marvellous Adventures of Parlsey!!!
