I'm sure you are and I ain't calling you narrow minded but I do get to
meet a fair few 17 year old mods who come down to the club and aren't
interested in anything further than the Qudrophenia side of things.
After listening to this music for years's I do tend to see the Small
Faces and The Who as fairly obvious but I'd be thick to think of a 17
year old as narrow minded for wanting to listen to those records when
they go out to clubs. However, what is narrow minded is a 17 year old
kid in a parka saying to me 'stop playing all this soul shit and play
some proper mod music like The Who'. However at the end of the day it's
the oldsters asking for them records that really piss me off. There was
a fella in his mid 30's who came up a while ago and said "I know you're
playing all these cool freakbeat and soul tunes but I just want it to be
like when I was 17 and I can't go home 'til I've heard 'Tin Soldier'".
Now that to me is narrow minded and sad. Still, I played it 'cos I
wanted him to go home.

Cheers

Mark.
