I have seen a few months ago with a few of our customers that were using a version of Microsoft Outlook....I think it was version XP, that had a problem when they "left a copy of the message on the server" using POP3. Our instance was resolved by switching their Outlook settings to IMAP and the problem stopped. I don't know if this helps but it worked for us.
